Account Types
Understand the role categories Parcel assigns to accounts.
Account types describe the role an organization plays in the construction and development ecosystem. An account can have multiple types if it operates across roles.
Type values
| Label | API Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Developer | developer | The entity developing or owning the project |
| Architect | architect | The design architect of record |
| Engineer | engineer | A structural, civil, or MEP engineer on the project |
| General contractor | gc | The primary construction contractor |
| Landscape architect | landscape_architect | The landscape architect of record |
| Law firm | law_firm | Legal counsel for the project or developer |
| Consultant | consultant | A planning, environmental, or specialty consultant |
| Agency | agency | A government body or public authority involved in the project |
How types are assigned
Account types are extracted from project documents using Parcel’s document parser. The parser identifies role keywords in permit applications, entitlement filings, and other source documents (for example, “Architect of Record: …” or “Prepared by: …”).
An account with no detected type is considered unclassified. Type assignment is additive — if an account appears in different roles across different projects, it accumulates all matching types.
